Avs' Stastny out with broken foot

03/25/2009 - Denver, CO (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Avalanche center Paul Stastny could miss the rest of the season due to a broken foot he suffered in the team's March 17 game against the Minnesota Wild.

The team's website said he will miss the next 2-to-4 weeks with the Avalanche's last regular-season game coming on April 12 versus St. Louis. While Colorado has not been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, the team is 14 points back of eighth place in the Western Conference with nine games to play.

Stastny suffered the injury while blocking a shot, and a CT scan taken Tuesday revealed the fracture. The 23-year-old has played in only 45 games this season due to injury but is tied for fourth on the team in scoring with 11 goals and 36 points.

He missed 26 games earlier this season with a broken forearm.

The Avalanche recalled forward Matt Hendricks from Lake Erie of the AHL.
